Dear Friends,
It’s the middle of January, and the Fortnightly Club and 2025 are off and running. It’s happening! Here are four updates...
The Estate Sale Planning Committee met earlier this week, and the next meeting will be on Monday, Feb 3 from 2-3pm in the book club/boardroom. All are welcome to join the committee. Thank you to Eileen Rath and Kim Quarles for volunteering to be Co-Chairs. The dates of the Estate Sale have been slightly changed. The new date for the Twin Maples Estate Sale Preview Party will be Friday, March 7 from 6-8pm and the Twin Maples Estate Sale will be on Saturday, March 8 from 9am-12pm. The list of accepted items for donation to the Estate Sale will be forthcoming. We will be accepting items for donation at the next General Meeting on Feb. 12 and then on Thursdays (2/13, 2/20, 2/27, 3/6) from 10am-12pm. Please reach out to Eileen with any questions.
Break out your jazz hands (and shoes!) for a Mardi Gras party on Saturday, February 22 starting at 7pm. Enjoy live New Orleans jazz by NYC’s Gary Negbaur Group. The event features Creole cuisine, King Cake, Sazeracs, decor, dancing and maybe even a surprise Carnivale celebration! More details and ticket information are below.
Despite the snowfall from this past Saturday morning, the donation drive for Room to Grow was a success. We ended up with 12 large cardboard boxes filled with wonderful, warm clothes, books, and toys for Room to Grow families (Room to Grow works to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty and support low-income children so they can thrive from the start). Thank you to Jackie and the Volunteer & Community Engagement Committee!
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on Monday, Jan 20, please consider Coloring a Smile for someone in need of connection. Please see details below under the Community Engagement section.
Sincerely,
Heather Althoff
