Dear Members & Friends,
Last Friday, the Fortnightly Club's Twin Maples estate was transformed into a macabre haunted house, complete with a graveyard, taxidermy, astrologists, tarot card readers, smoke and mirrors, zombie dancing, and more witches than you could count. Many thanks to Liese Kant, the Hocus Pocus Committee, and everyone who helped with this magical fundraising event!
Coming up in November are many more autumnal delights, such as the next general meeting, "Harvest Moon Night," on November 13th, a holiday shopping night at one of Summit's newest shops, Kanibal & Co., on November 21st, plus many more opportunities to volunteer with the Community Engagement Committee at Summit Warm Hearts, leaf peep with the Walking Club, learn to play Mah Jongg, and discuss Salman Rushdie's memoir, Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder, with the Book Club. Please look at the events on the website for more details. Links to sign-ups for upcoming events and volunteer opportunities are provided throughout The Portal and on the website. Your active participation in these events is critical to the Club's success! Have a safe and happy Halloween.
With appreciation,
Heather Althoff
