Dear Friends,

The holidays are upon us! The festive season can not only elicit feelings of joy and anticipation but also moments of stress and dread. Depending on how you are feeling, the Fortnightly Club has a balm for all these emotions. Between tonight's shopping event at Kanibal & Co., this Sunday's Movie Club at AMC Mountainside 10 to see Wicked, the Sally Lunn's Lunch & Tea outing on Dec 3, to volunteering at Santa at Twin Maples on Dec 7 and 8, to helping the Community Engagement team at Summit Santa Claus Shop in December, to attending our annual Holiday Luncheon on Dec 12, there is something for everyone and opportunities abound to strengthen and form new friendships. There are plenty of opportunities to create meaning and purpose!

Tonight's shopping night is from 7-9pm at a new boutique in Summit called Kanibal & Co. "Shop Small, Shop Kanibal: from apparel to gifts and home goods, we have everything you need to shop for your loved ones this Holiday season!" As this is a new shop and location (in past year's we've seen our lovely friends at Chatham's Quartet), we will be interested in hearing your feedback for planning next year's holiday shopping night. If you can't attend this evening, please note that Kanibal & Co. will extend the 10% donation to the Fortnightly Club for purchases made on either Friday or Saturday. Please just let them know that you are a Fortnightly Club member, and they will count your purchase towards their donation to us!

Apologies for the confusion in last week's Portal; I made a typo on the date. Please note that the Holiday Luncheon is on Dec 12! Tickets are now on sale, on the website, for the Holiday luncheon on Dec 12 from 11am to 3pm. Tickets are $60 per person, and include lunch, beverages, dessert, a special performance by the Continuo Choir, and lots of merriment! Also, we will be selling Snowman Scratch offs again! The proceeds from this event will benefit a local non-profit and our grande dame – Twin Maples.

Also, our Mitten Tree is back! Please bring a new pair of gloves or mittens to be collected at the club (donation bin will be in the front entryway at the beginning of December) and given to a local non-profit for distribution.

With Gratitude,

Heather Althoff

President, The Fortnightly Club of Summit
